HeMoLab R&D Activities. From Basic Science to Clinical Applications
Tipo de evento: Seminário LNCC
In this presentation I will present the most remarkable research activities developed in the HeMoLab (Hemomdynamics Modeling Laboratory) group. I will discuss several issues surrounding the modeling and simulation of the cardiovascular system, with special emphasis in phenomena related to blood circulation in the arterial-venous system. This spans problems concerned with the basic hypotheses underlying blood flow modeling and its interaction with the vascular structures, which naturally brings questions about the interplay and the bridging methodologies among the different physical scales. Problems involving medical imaging, fluid-structure interaction, multi-scale material characterization and large scale whole-system models will be connected to bring an overview of the main challenges in the field, some solutions we have found for these problems and the ultimate application of some of these models in decision-making in the clinical routine.
